The president of the republic, José Jerí, was received by the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, at the Carondelet Presidential Palace, in Quito. This meeting takes place within the framework of the XVI Meeting of the Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet.
This is the first official trip abroad made by the Peruvian head of state, after taking office in October of this year.
The meeting is expected to address various issues on the bilateral agenda, including cooperation in security and defense, the fight against illegal mining and addressing pollution in the Puyango-Tumbes transboundary basin.
Before the meeting with Noboa, the Peruvian president starred in a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the heroes of Independence in Ecuador.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Hugo de Zela, as well as the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister, Gabriela Sommerfeld, participated in the ceremony. In addition, the Undersecretary of National Defense of Ecuador, Edwin Cañizales, was also present.
The floral arrangement placed by Jerí Oré at the Independence Monument was in the name of all Peruvians.
