On the morning of this Saturday, December 6, the President of the Republic José Jerí led the ceremony for the 37th anniversary of the creation of the National Police of Peru (PNP).
This activity was carried out at the National Police Professional Training School, Alipio Ponce Vásquez, located in the Puente Piedra district.
The president was accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Tiburcio, as well as senior officials of the PNP and the Armed Forces.
“Before assuming duties I had a concept of the Police. As an authority I began to understand the dynamics, their actions, the practices. Already as President of the Republic I found a Police waiting for new winds and eager to act. And the initial decisions were made to precisely undertake this new war. They are the first line to fight against crime,” said Jerí in his speech during the ceremony.
“We found an institution that for many years was systematically weakened and today with this Government we have marked and will continue to mark milestones in returning those capabilities, that attention. We also demand the results to grant peace of mind,” he added.
High authorities of the State powers were also present, such as the head of the Judiciary, Janet Tello; and the president in charge of the Congress of the Republic, Fernando Rospigliosi.
