José Jerí leaves the Government Palace after being censured by Congress: this was his departure

After being censured by Congress, former President José Jerí officially withdrew from the Government Palace facilities. He was accompanied by his ministerial cabinet, who applauded him and he responded with a greeting.

The Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Congress of the Republic decided to censure President José Jerí due to his clandestine meetings with Chinese businessmen in December 2025 and in January of this year. The final decision had the support of 75 congressmen; However, there were 16 of Keiko Fujimori’s Popular Force bench who opposed it until the end.

The parliamentarians who opposed were Arturo Alegría, Alejandro Aguinaga, Rosangella Barbarán, Ernesto Bustamente, Enrique Castillo, Nilza Chacón, Víctor Flores, Raúl Huamán Coronado, Mary Infantes, Patricia Juárez, Jeny López, Martha Moyano, Auristela Obando, Tania Ramírez, César Villanueva, María Zeta Chunga.

This support had already been announced by the Fujimori leader last Sunday, February 15. According to what he said in a video broadcast on social networks, “the stability of the country” should be prioritized.
