José Jerí is elected president of Congress for the 2025-2026 period

In the final stretch of the current legislative five -year period, the Congress of the Republic He will choose today, Saturday July 26, to the new board of directors for the 2025-2026 period. This will be the last election of the current legislature, marked by intense polarization and debates about the governance of the country.

The Senior Office of Parliament confirmed that two lists were registered within the established period, which won on Thursday at 10:00 am the list 1 is led by José Jerí, congressman of the Somos Peru bench, while list 2 is headed by the legislator José Cueto, of the Honor and Democracy Parliamentary Group.

Both lists were officially published and comply with the regulatory requirements. In the next few hours, the Plenary of Congress will proceed to vote to define who will take the reins of the Board of Directors in this last section of the 2021-2026 mandate.
