The President of the Republic, José Jeríhighlighted that his administration has ordered that the strengthening and modernization of the operational and technological capacity of the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) be a priority in 2026.
During the closing ceremony of the academic year at the FAP Officer School at Las Palmas Air Base, he indicated that defense and development are inseparable and that, for this, a modern, strong and dissuasive Air Force is required.
“For this reason, our Government has declared the strengthening and modernization of the operational and technological capacity of our Air Force as a priority issue for the remainder of the year and for 2026. We will provide our technical pilots and personnel with the necessary tools to fulfill their duty in the 21st century,” said the head of state.
Likewise, he highlighted that “honor is never negotiated” and that the country always comes first, invoking the students to follow the example of Captain FAP José Abelardo Quiñones, national hero, who offered his life in the line of duty.
When addressing the members of the 2025 promotion, Captain FAP Luis Salinas Rondo also expressed that Peru needs all of its capacity these days and that its duty is to be part of a generation that continues this legacy and makes a difference.
“With your efforts, like the efforts of those who were before you and those who will come after you, together we will make the great country that we always should have been and that we have the obligation to make it be,” President Jerí emphasized.
The ceremony was attended by the head of the Council of Ministers, Ernesto Álvarez; the president of Congress, Fernando Rospigliosi; senior officers of the Armed Forces, among other State officials.
