The President of the Republic, José Jeríarrived at Abancay Avenue, in the Center of Lima, to verify the health status of the police officers injured during the demonstrations.
During his visit, the president spoke with the affected troops and, later, gave brief statements to the press present at the scene.
“I hope that those who are protesting are aware that there have been people who have sought to do violence,” said Jerí, in reference to the clashes that occurred during the mobilization.
The head of state also reported that 37 police officers were injured and 10 people were arrested after the demonstration ended.
“The cameras of the Police and the Municipality of Lima will serve to identify criminals who have infiltrated a peaceful demonstration to generate chaos. The full weight of the law for them,” he warned.
