The deputy of the National District, Jose Horacio Rodriguezdescribed as an act of justice by the Central Electoral Board (JCE) that annulled the merger agreement signed between the political organizations Alianza País and Democratic Option (OD) and thus restore, through a resolution, legal status as a political party to OD.
Referring to the criticism that has triggered this decision, he pointed out that politics is about a power struggle and from the OD they fight for a power that serves for Dominicans to live with dignity in their homeland.
During an interview on the “No se dice más” program, he invited all those who have spoken out against it to read resolution 23-2022 that is posted on the page of the electoral body, so that they can understand that it has the support and the legal basis.

Likewise, he highlighted that paragraph 3 of article 126 of the Electoral Regime Law establishes that the JCE has the power to review the resolutions that approve merger agreements.
“In other words, the Electoral Regime Law empowers the Central Electoral Board as the only body to review the merger agreements, for which the OD filed an appeal for review of the resolution that approved the merger agreement.
In another order, José Horacio showed his support for X National Census of Population and Housing scheduled by the National Statistical Office (ONE) for next November, for understanding that it is one of the most necessary measures to have a diagnosis “of what we need as a country”.
“It was time for the census in 2020 and it was not done because of the pandemic, we are two years behind, continuing to delay it is condemning this country to backwardness,” the deputy said.
He called on all sensible sectors of the country to support the work carried out by the ONE to guarantee the success of the census.
