José Horacio assures that he no longer belongs to AP

Deputy José Horacio Rodríguez officially declared that he no longer belongs to the Alianza País (AP) party, a political organization chaired by Guillermo Moreno and to which he was allied since 2019 through Democratic Choice (OD).

When talking with elCaribe, the legislator ruled out any possibility of belonging to that political entity again.

“No, we took a step towards leaving the militancy in that party and that is already part of our past experience,” he replied, when asked if in the 2024 elections he would provisionally opt for a position in that organization in the hypothetical situation of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) did not respond to the request on time.

Horacio Rodríguez was convinced that the party organization chaired by Minou Tavárez Mirabal took the step towards the formation, restructuring and request to the JCE to revoke that merger pact “to retake our original parent party, which is the Democratic Choice party, which We founded in 2015. It was in that entity that he served as secretary general, as he recalled, until the time of agreeing in 2019, to resume those efforts to have a political group and a party at the national level that is the house of good politics.

He stressed that this request, sent about 10 days ago, “is based on law, on good law, by virtue of the fact that the Electoral Regime Law allows the review of this type of pact, and by virtue of the fact that this pact was made in a time when the JCE was violating the fundamental rights of Democratic Choice and we saw the need to do so, because now we are requesting that it go back to the previous situation so that we can continue doing good politics from OD”.

He stated that if the Board approves the requirement, OD will appear on the ballots for the 2024 elections. In another order, he revealed that Pedro Martínez, AP spokesman in the Chamber of Deputies, will continue in said party.
