Through the social networkhis sister, Ana Belkis Ferrer García, explained that the opponent managed to communicate by telephone with Yusmila Reyna Ferrera, mother of his daughter Ana Laura, to whom he confirmed that the repressors attacked him in the prison.
In turn, he asked him to inform his wife, Nelva Ismarays Ortega Tamayo, to go to the prison because the prison authorities had granted him a conjugal visit, which had been denied to him for a long time.

Relatives, activists and Cuban organizations have demanded proof of life of the opposition leader and political prisoner after being urgently hospitalized due to the beatings received by henchmen in the Mar Verde prison, Santiago de Cuba.
The opponent’s sister had notified two weeks ago that the UNPACU leader was admitted to the Boniato prison hospital due to his injuries.
A source who managed to see Ferrer in the hospital of that penitentiary center described him as “very thin, brutally beaten and with a wound on his face.”
Likewise, he said that the authorities of the Cuban regime limited access to the hospital to prevent other people from being able to see him and report his condition.
The Council for the Democratic Transition in Cuba (CTDC), chaired by José Daniel Ferrer, condemned the beating received by the leader and pointed out that an event had occurred that they had warned about in recent years: “The coordinator of the Union Patriotic Society of Cuba (UNPACU) and president of the Council for the Democratic Transition in Cuba (CTDC) has received a brutal beating in the Mar Verde prison, Santiago de Cuba, and has had to be urgently transferred to the hospital in the Bonito prison.”
Ferrer has been detained since July 11, 2021 for trying to access the place where the protests were taking place in his province; A month later, a four-year prison sentence that he had been serving since 2020 in house confinement was revoked. This constitutes his third imprisonment for political reasons.
