José Carlos Acevedo, 51, and mayor of Pedro Juan Caballero, died on Saturday night, hours after the medical team that treated him confirmed his “brain death.” In the early hours of this Sunday, the body of the head of the commune was transferred to the headquarters of the municipality, where he is watched over by his relatives and relatives.
The mayor received seven firearm impacts, four of them in the neck and the rest in both arms, according to medical reports. “His brain stopped working and stopped working in 100% of his activities,” David Peña, one of the treating doctors, told local media on Saturday.
Peña indicated that Acevedo had “very important brain damage” after various tests were carried out to determine his condition. Five days the mayor remained resisting, until finally at 10:20 p.m. last night his death was confirmed.
