The institution informed through its Twitter account that the decision to award the highest honor for the work of a lifetime was made by a jury made up of the prestigious professionals Ismael Albelo, Johannes García, Santiago Alfonso and Isabel Bustos, according to a report from the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.

The CNAE distinction is granted to the most meritorious representatives of this art in Cuba for the whole of their work and who have achieved relevant results in the dance field.
On this occasion, in addition to the laureate, they were nominated for the Luz María Collazo Reyes award, viengsay valdesLilliam Padrón Chávez, Alfredo O’Farril Pacheco and Miguel Cabrera García, refers to a note of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
Chávez Guetton belongs to a generation of creators who underpinned and made visible the choreography in the Ballet of Camagüey, at a decisive moment for the group from Camagüey to have its own repertoire with beautiful pieces and high artistic flight, adds the medium.
For its decision, the jury recognized his extensive choreographic work, which includes titles such as Ofelia, Fatum, Vivaldiana, Concierto barroco, which gave the company from Camagüey a status within all Cuban dance.
Chávez has collaborated as a teacher and choreographer in different theater and dance groups such as Guiñol de Camagüey, Teatro Lirico Rodrigo Prats de Holguín, Dramatic Ensemble of Camagüey, Chamber Ballet of Holguín, the companies Codanza, Danza Libre, Danza Fragmentada, Conjunto Folklorico Babul de Guantanamo, and the Santiago Ballet, among others.
The announcement coincided with the celebration of International Dance Day, instituted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in 1982, as a tribute to the birth of the master and creator of modern ballet Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810).
