The member of the electoral commission for the votes where the justices of the peace will be chosen, Jorge Rodríguez, explained that these are a tool to prevent conflicts in the communities from escalating.
After the election of the justices of the peace on December 15, the Supreme Court of Justice will accompany and provide training sessions to those who are selected within the communal circuits, reported the member of the electoral commission for these votes, Jorge Rodríguez.
“The TSJ, which is the Public Power body in charge of the administration of justice in Venezuela, will comply with the process of accompanying the judges of the peace. It will also provide spaces so that people know that they can go there to settle, to discuss, their issues,” highlighted Rodríguez, who emphasized that, in addition, the justices of the peace will have the immense responsibility of accompanying the Venezuelan people in “the valiant fight for peace”.
In this sense, he highlighted that communal justices of the peace “are a powerful tool” to prevent a conflict within communities from escalating in magnitude.
He highlighted that 52,288 people applied to exercise this brand new position of justice of the peace, among whom the people will select around 30 thousand. “That is to say, the number of candidates for the number of positions to be elected almost doubled,” he said.
Election campaign
On the other hand, the president of the National Assembly explained that the election campaign for the election of these justices of the peace will close next Friday, December 13. “By this date, the National Electoral Council will have deployed, together with the Republic Plan, all the electoral material and the voting tables will be installed in the 4,861 voting centers that will be installed,” he highlighted.
Likewise, he highlighted that on Tuesday, December 10, the candidates will do “flipping” days. “On December 11, the debate will take place in each communal circuit, where the candidates will present their proposals to the people,” he explained.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, December 12, there will be a day of “painting and installing pamphlets.”
