Jorge Rodríguez on the future in Venezuela: "One where we leave aside what separates us"

He president of the ruling National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguezstated this Thursday that the future of the country must be “for coexistence and harmony”after the management report presented by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguezbefore the Legislature on behalf of Nicolas Maduro.

During a speech before Parliament, with the presence of the leaders of public powers and the military high commandthe deputy pointed out that the speech of the president in charge “marks the immediate times” and “glimpse the future to come” for Venezuela.

“That future will always be a struggle, but it must also be a future for coexistence and harmony, it must be a future where we put aside what separates us and begin to think about what unites us,” he stated.

In that context, Jorge Rodríguez asked that the call for a “political dialogue” not remain “on deaf ears” made by the president in charge.

Likewise, he assured that The National Assembly will take up the bills “promptly” and “speedily” presented by Delcy Rodríguez during her speech.

This Thursday, ten days after his swearing-inDelcy Rodríguez presented before Parliament the memory and account of the Executive Branch.

During the speech – in which he claimed to have worked alongside Maduro before his capture—Rodríguez announced the creation of two funds to allocate foreign currency income to increase salaries and investment in servicesin addition to presenting a reform to the Organic Law of Hydrocarbons and legislation to simplify procedures.

The president in charge assumed the Executive Branch after the United States attacks in Venezuelaoccurred on January 3when Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured.

On Wednesday, from the Miraflores PalaceRodríguez spoke about the opening of a “new political moment” that allows understanding “from political diversity”in the middle of a process of release of political prisoners.

Likewise, he confirmed that he maintained a phone call with US President Donald Trumpto treat a “bilateral work agenda” and pending issues between both governments.
