The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, announced this Friday, September 19 that the regional divisions of the “National Council for Sovereignty and Peace” began to be installed, given the deployment of US military ships in the Caribbean, under the argument of combating drug trafficking.
«Today we start with the installation of state and sectoral councils for sovereignty and peace. Today we will install three states: Portuguese, La Guaira and Lara, ”Rodríguez said in a press conference, in which he was accompanied by other members official.
According to the official, this Saturday, September 20, it is planned to install “in all fishery states” the sectoral councils of fishermen, who – he pointed out – are among the most affected by the “aggression” of “imperial forces” in the Caribbean.
“We are also going to develop, in the three work commissions (of the Council), the diplomat, legal and political, activities to work with the sisters and brothers who are in the entire world, to work with lovers and peace lovers,” said Rodriguez, without specifying more details.
In that sense, he called the population to join the “effort” to preserve “the peace” of the nation.
“Help us in this effort (…) so that the peace of the Republic, so that the right to the future, to independence, to sovereignty, accompanies us all,” he said.
This Tuesday, Venezuela announced the installation of the ‘National Council for Sovereignty and Peace’ in order to defend its territory at the diplomatic and legal level to which it considers “threats” of Washington, which has ships, airplanes and more than 4,500 soldiers deployed in the Caribbean under the argument of the fight against drugs.
