The president of the Venezuelan Parliament and chief negotiator of Chavismo, Jorge Rodríguez, stated this Wednesday that he hopes that the amnesty project, proposed by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, “will accelerate in an accelerated manner” the political dialogue called by the government.
He said that the amnesty law proposal is “an initial unilateral contribution” from the Executive, which was decided “without any type of consultation” and that he hopes to achieve consensus so that it is approved unanimously in the Legislature.
Dialogue with the opposition
Rodríguez assured that they held a meeting with representatives of opposition parties to start a political dialogue, proposed by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, that includes “coinciding” and also “divergent” sectors.
The deputy pointed out that with dialogue they seek to resolve specific problems, “early victories” and find mechanisms for political participation “with sufficient guarantees” so that “whoever wants to do politics” can do so without obstacles.
