Jorge Rodríguez father was the voice of the people betrayed by Puntofijismo

Jorge Rodríguez Sr. built a movement that rose up against Puntofijismo that had betrayed the Venezuelan people, this was highlighted this Monday by his daughter, the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, in a tribute that was paid in the General Cemetery of the South to the student leader, worker and left-wing political activist, 46 years after his assassination.

“It was not that exquisite, dogmatic left, he (Jorge Rodríguez Sr.) went to the town where he came from to build a movement that would rise up against the puntofijista that had betrayed the people,” said the Vice President at the beginning of her words, broadcast by Venezuelan Television.

In the tribute made this Monday to Jorge Rodríguez Sr., they sang songs and a floral offering was made in front of the place it occupies in the General Cemetery of the South.

Vice President Delcy Rodríguez recalled that “46 years ago, we had to say goodbye to our father in the most tragic way, when the Punto Fijo fascism took his life.”

Likewise, he continued «every July 25 we pay homage to a martyr, to a hero, to a revolutionary, a valid message for the Bolivarian revolution».

For the Vice President, Jorge Rodríguez Sr. “is present, is future.”

He stressed that “until the last breath he showed what it means to be a revolutionary, without any type of pact that threatened our independent republic, today we claim it more than ever, knowing that we are facing a hero who gave his life for Venezuela.”

Tribute to historical struggles

For his part, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and son of the honored revolutionary leader, stated that “paying homage to Jorge Rodríguez today is paying homage to the historical struggles of the people of Venezuela, to defeat dictatorships, a struggle that rose in the spirit of January 23, while the people celebrated in the streets».

Jorge Rodríguez Sr., he recalled, actively participated in those struggles of the 1960s against hatred, violence, “these were years in which the dark files of the dictatorship were inaugurated, here the orders of North American imperialism to torture and assassinate revolutionaries were rehearsed” .

The fight carried out by that generation of the 1960s, in which Jorge Rodríguez Sr. was present, was against hatred and violence, Rodríguez reiterated.

Likewise, he stressed that his father “went to the catacombs of the town, and did not remain in betrayal, rather he wrote his word in the word of the people of Venezuela.”

Earlier, on his account on the social network Twitter, the president of the National Assembly paid tribute to his father through a video and a meaning message.

“For three days the hyenas tortured you. Three days to measure the immensity of your smile, to calibrate the defeat of the beasts that could not, and will not, with the future lodged in your eyes. 46 years after his murder! Honor and Glory to Jorge Rodríguez !! », he published.

Tribute to Jorge Rodríguez father

The murder of Jorge Rodríguez Sr. raised a wave of indignation in the face of an atrocious act against a delegate to the Student Council of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), as well as secretary of an established party, said the president of the AN.

“The indignation was so great that 45 years ago, his fellow students at the UCV, his professors, decided to give his name to one of the most important squares of that house of studies,” he said.

Remembering his father with fervor and love, the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, stressed that “we have to face fascism, hate, in the face of hate and fascism and lies, there is the example of Jorge Rodríguez, of Sergio Rodríguez, by Víctor Soto Rojas, of more than four thousand revolutionaries who were assassinated during the Fourth Republic».

“It is a complaint so that it will never happen again on this land that a few mistreat, murder another Venezuelan,” he remarked.

This Monday afternoon, the children of Jorge Rodríguez approached the square that for 45 years bears his father’s nameto “greet the workers of the Presidential Commission to recover the UCV,” Jorge Rodríguez reported on his @Jorgepsuv account.
