The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, assured that Edmundo González Urrutia violated the asylum rules in Spain “from the day he requested it.”
“They will have to deal for the rest of their days with that absurdity, one of the most cowardly and despicable beings known in the minuscule history of stateless people,” Rodríguez wrote on Instagram, in response to statements that González Urrutia made today in Spain, where he assured that his exile is temporary and that he plans to return to Venezuela as soon as possible.

Rodríguez accused the opponent of constantly lying, especially regarding his departure from Venezuela, where the justice system had issued an arrest warrant against him after the violent events that occurred after the elections last June 28.
“The same day he requests asylum from the Spanish government, he violates asylum regulations. Ask for money with a double and a sword. He lies when he writes, he lies when he speaks, his little hands that have worked in his life tremble,” reads Rodríguez’s message.
On September 7, the far-right left the country after requesting political asylum in Spain. The measure was approved by the Government of Venezuela during a meeting between González Urrutia and Vice President Delcy Rodríguez and Jorge Rodríguez.
González Urrutia expressed his intention to take office on January 10, when the new presidential term begins, without respecting the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice, which ratifies the triumph of President Nicolás Maduro
