Jorge Rodríguez disguises the reform of all electoral laws with “political dialogue”

The president of the AN 2020 assured that all these electoral laws “were obsolete.” Among the proposed reforms, he mentioned, is the strengthening of the Electoral Power, including among the requirements to run for a popularly elected position compliance with constitutional article 130, eliminating the option to “keep one’s position” or the alleged duplicity of militancy and “selling” of cards.

The president of the National Assembly 2020Jorge Rodríguez, called on all parties and movements to a “political dialogue” for next Thursday, October 3, with the aim of receiving proposals for the reform of “all electoral laws” which, he promised, will be done before finishing this year.

«A political dialogue. Anyone who doesn’t want to come doesn’t need to, don’t go shouting at the Spanish Cortes afterwards,” Rodríguez warned this Tuesday during the ordinary session. In these consultations, he said, the rest of the sectors of civil society will be included, including the National Electoral Council and the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court.

But he made it clear that any reform proposal will be evaluated by the deputies of a “special commission”, chaired by him. On August 13, he proposed the modification of all electoral laws to eliminate international observationafter questions from the Carter Center and the UN Panel of Experts on the results of the presidential elections.

The proposal was endorsed by the ruler Nicolás Maduro on the 22nd of that month: “Enough with fascism, enough with the extreme right (…) that those who do not know the laws, public powers, the Constitution and seek to impose a system cannot participate in electoral processes. fascist regime.

The president of the AN 2020 assured that all these laws “that have become obsolete” must comply with the provisions of article 130 of the Constitution, which establishes the “duty to honor and defend the country, its symbols and cultural values; safeguard and protect sovereignty, nationality, territorial integrity, self-determination and the interests of the Nation.

«The Organic Law of Political Parties, the Organic Law of the Electoral Power, of Electoral Processes and all these laws have the ultimate goal of caring for and protecting politics, yes, but also the ultimate goal of protecting and caring for our territory. There cannot be a politician who calls for invasions. There cannot be a policy that calls for planting bombs, that rejoices in the murder of humble men and women, no. “Let them dedicate themselves to something else,” Rodríguez stressed.

Among the proposed reforms, he mentioned, is the strengthening of the Electoral Power, including among the requirements to run for a popularly elected position compliance with constitutional article 130, eliminating the option to “keep one’s position” or the alleged duplicity of militancy and “selling” of cards.

«There must be an impeccable resume. “If you are corrupt, you cannot run for public office again (…) We will not allow a turncoat, a corrupt person, a fascist, to be a candidate ever again in Venezuela,” he stated.

He also questioned the number of parties duly registered with the CNE and that meet the requirements to maintain the organization. “Very few because the penalties are ridiculous.”

«There cannot be a Venezuelan who calls for foreign government invasions. That is unthinkable (…) If you do not recognize an electoral result then why participate? Do not participate If you do not recognize the electoral referee? Then don’t participate, you can’t be a candidate, neither that time nor the next,” Rodríguez insisted.

He also referred to the opposition leader María Corina Machado, whom he accused of “collaborating” with other governments for foreign interventions, and Edmundo González Urrutia, whom he accused of advocating “in an adventurous and psychotic way” the functions of the State.

«We send your child there, so that you feel like naming him whatever you want. “There they have their child,” Rodríguez said disparagingly.

About Robert Serra

The session also remembered the death of Chavistas Robert Serra and María Herrera, whom they called “martyrs.” The president of AN 202o said that they cannot be remembered “only as an anniversary, only as a tribute, we have to remember Robert in the essence of what he is, a young revolutionary.”

As a tribute, a “youth parliamentary network” was approved, which includes councilors, regional deputies and parliamentarians of the National Assembly under 35 years of age, “for the coordination, union and accompaniment of young legislators.”

Pedro Infante (PSUV-Nacional) also asked to call an “international offensive of parliamentary diplomacy”, for which he asked to activate the 70 parliamentary friendship groups formed “to bring the truth of Venezuela.” He also requested the creation of a “parliamentary network of the people of ALBA”, the exchange “with the more than 40 countries sanctioned by the governments of the United States and Europe” and the organization of a “Great World Forum against Fascism, Neofascism and Expressions Similar».

This forum will be held in Caracas at the beginning of November.
