The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, reiterated this Monday the official call for the Meeting of Parliamentarians of the Greater Caribbeanwhich will be held in Caracas.
The central objective of the event will be to insist on the declaration of the Caribbean as a zone of peace and reject what he described as warmongering actions of “Yankee imperialism” and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The statement was broadcast through its Telegram channel and addressed to the National Directorate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv).
Political declaration and regional complaint
Rodríguez, also a member of the National Directorate of the PSUV, expressed that the parliamentary meeting seeks to articulate voices from the Caribbean in the face of external threats that, in his words, seek to impose an agenda of violence and subordination.
“We repudiate the warmongering actions of Yankee imperialism and its kneeling Prime Minister of Trinidad, vassal and genuflexer,” he wrote in his publication, referring directly to Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The event is part of the efforts of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, installed in September, which has promoted more than 30 agreements in defense of regional stability.
It is worth remembering that, on October 22, Rodríguez reported that in the coming days Venezuela will host the “ Parliamentary Meeting of the Greater Caribbean”, which will be executed to join forces and defend peace in the region.
Delcy Rodríguez: “A hydrocarbon war”
In parallel, the executive vice president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, denounced this Monday that what is intended to be established in Latin America and the Caribbean is a “hydrocarbon war”, driven by external interests that threaten the peace and sovereignty of the people.
“What is brewing is an energy war that seeks to destabilize the region and subject it to imperial interests,” he stated during a press conference.
Rodríguez also rejected the statements of Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who – according to the vice president – celebrated the death of Trinidadian citizens in attacks perpetrated by the United States Government against vessels in the Caribbean.
“It is unacceptable for a regional leader to justify violence against her own people,” he added.
He Meeting of Parliamentarians of the Greater Caribbean It will be held in the coming days in Caracas and will include the participation of legislative delegations from several countries in the region. The event seeks to consolidate a common position against geopolitical threats and reaffirm the commitment to peace, sovereignty and Caribbean integration
