The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, did not specify how many people will be “released”, he indicated that it is an “important number”
The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, announced that the authorities as a “unilateral gesture” are carrying out the release of political prisoners, both national and foreign citizens.
Although he did not specify how many people will be “released,” he indicated that it is a “significant number.”
“The Bolivarian government together with the State institutions has decided to release a significant number of Venezuelans and foreigners and these release processes are occurring from this very moment,” Rodríguez reported during a press conference at noon this Thursday, January 8 from the Parliament headquarters.
The deputy added that this gesture seeks to “consolidate peace and peaceful coexistence among all, without distinction of political, religious, economic, social.”
After the arrest by the United States of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and the announcement that Delcy Rodríguez is blinded by the Executive, working hand in hand with the administration of Donald Trump, various non-governmental organizations and human rights defenders, as well as politicians, demanded the release of all political prisoners as evidence that the country is working towards a transition.
