Jorge Rodríguez announces prompt attention to work on the General Amnesty Law

The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, received the proposal from the president in charge of the republic, Delcy Rodríguez, to begin as soon as possible the consultation of the General Amnesty Law that she announced this Friday in the Supreme Court of Justice, on the occasion of her speech at the beginning of Judicial Activities 2026.

Through his account on the Telegram social network, the head of Parliament explained that once the text with the proposal is presented, the development of this law will begin as a commitment to the peace of the nation.

“As Representatives of the Legislative Branch, we attended the Solemn Session of Opening of Judicial Activities in the Supreme Court of Justice. We will immediately respond to the request of the President in Charge, Delcy Rodríguez, to work on a General Amnesty Law, once it is presented by the Commission for the Judicial Revolution. The institutions and Public Powers are committed to the peace of the people,” the deputy wrote.

The General Amnesty Law proposed by the president in charge will cover the period from 1999 to the present, and will benefit only people who have not committed serious crimes such as murders, drug trafficking, corruption and serious violations of human rights, according to the president.
