Jorge Rodríguez: Amnesty law represents the signal for the beginning of dialogue

The president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, assured that the Bolivarian forces consider that an initial, unilateral contribution to trigger the beginning of the dialogue is precisely the Amnesty Law, which they hope is broad enough so that all sectors that are not involved in serious crimes can recover their political participation. Rodríguez added that they hope to reach sufficient consensus, within the AN, for it to be approved unanimously.

At the end of the meeting, Rodríguez explained that after the need raised by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, in defense of the peace and stability of the country and the sovereignty and independence, she formed two large working commissions, one related to the Program for democratic coexistence and peace, coordinated by the Minister for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, to address all communicating issues of the economy, society, culture and politics.

On the other hand, he also proposed the formation of meeting mechanisms between the sectors of Venezuelan politics. «In this way, it was determined that those who accompanied me were the representatives of the Great Patriotic Pole in those processes of seeking conversations with the opposition political parties. With the entire political spectrum of Venezuela,” he stressed.

Rodríguez was accompanied by deputies Jorge Arreaza, Carolina García, Pedro Infante, Grecia Colmenares and the governor of Sucre, Johana Carrillo, as members of the Great Patriotic Pole.

In such a way that this Wednesday two meetings were held in the search for proposals to advance the good of all of Venezuela. He explained that in the meeting held with the members of the Program for Coexistence and Peace, the foundations of the relationship between both sectors were laid, specifying that this body remains in permanent session with the task of promoting agreements and solutions for the common good in different areas.

The other meeting was held with the representatives of the following political parties: Un Nuevo Tiempo, Unión y Cambio, Fuerza Venezuela, Partido Puente, Movimiento al Socialismo, Cambio en Paz, Vamos, Vamos Venezuela, Fuerza Vecinal, Alianza del Lápiz, “to advance what the president in charge has called politics with a capital “P”, which includes listening to Venezuelans in their clamor for the maintenance of peace, as well as among the actors that we have differences, seeking through dialogue, paths of communication to resolve issues related to the economy, people’s lives, health, education and forms of political participation,” he explained.

“We have agreed on the search for early victories in these dialogue mechanisms, on events that can be brought to the AN and that can be converted into laws, as well as on a work agenda so that next Monday we can meet again and advance in a national dialogue process,” explained Jorge Rodríguez.

He insisted on the need to seek a dialogue that addresses the strategic elements, that seeks the full political participation of all Venezuelans, with sufficient guarantees so that all those who wish to engage in politics do so without obstacles, except those established by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

He urged not to use political participation to promote violence, the actions of Venezuelans against Venezuelans or attacks against Venezuela, “but to resolve the internal affairs of the nation,” for which he welcomed the results of the meetings held this Wednesday.

Amnesty Law

The president of parliament stressed that the Amnesty Law is an initiative of the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, in order to promote national coexistence and assured that a meeting will be held to evaluate the scope of this initiative and assured that it will be taken to the National Assembly for its first discussion “very, very soon.”

Rodríguez pointed out that those sectors of the opposition abroad that called for an invasion and promoted the lethal attack against the Republic on January 3 cannot be interlocutors of peace.

“If they insist on the use of force and violence to subvert the constitutional order, it is impossible to establish a dialogue on those terms, since this attitude represents the antithesis of dialogue,” he said. “True dialogue is one that allows us to build proposals for early victories on social, cultural, economic and political issues in the country as well as a roadmap where we have sufficient guarantees of political participation.”

In Rodríguez’s opinion, the Amnesty law will be the first step towards the beginning of dialogue. and added that they aspire to reach sufficient consensus, within the AN, for it to be approved unanimously.

The general consensus: normalize the country’s political life

In the context of the meeting of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, he highlighted that there is a general consensus on the need to advance common proposals that allow the normalization of the country’s political life.

He stressed that all participating forces agree on the defense of peace as the fundamental goal of their actions and on the urgency of seeking early solutions to the wounds generated by the economic war, as well as the complex situation that the Venezuelan economy and society have recently gone through.

He emphasized that the central objective is to build an agenda that offers sufficient guarantees for the political participation of all, strengthening trust, understanding and institutional stability as pillars for lasting democratic coexistence.

In his opinion, in the political sphere various guarantees are required that allow any actor to exercise their free will and participate fully in the political life of the country and he insisted that these guarantees must be accompanied by a firm commitment on the part of all sectors, who must ensure that acts of violence that have caused so much damage to the nation will not be called again.

«I think that now we are all aware of the need to defend the peace of the Republic, we are aware that those irresponsible calls to destruction, to war, to violence, gave us a sample of terror that we never want to experience again. “We are aware that excessive polarization and excessive sectarianism do nothing to help Venezuelans develop a full life.”
