The Second Investigation Court of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima ordered an impediment to leave the country for nine months against Johan Ramirez Chavarryinvestigated as the alleged instigator of the crime of influence peddling in the vacancy process of the former mayor of Lima, Jorge Munoz.
Ramírez Chávarry is accused of requesting an alleged bribe of US$80,000 from the former mayor to avoid his dismissal. The suspect is the brother of Willy Ramirez Chavarryone of the five magistrates that make up the plenary session of the National Elections Jury.
Along with Johan Ramírez, Roger Chapiama Díaz is another of those investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office. On May 26, the authorities raided the homes of both in order to gather information and seize documents necessary for the proceedings.

According to the resolution that authorized the search and arrest, Chapiama is accused, “in his capacity as a public servant, of having invoked before people linked to the former mayor of Lima Jorge Muñoz Wellsreal or simulated influences through the investigated Johan Ramirez Chavarrybrother of one of the members of the National Election Jury (JNE)to deliver an economic benefit of S/ 170,000 in order to reverse the error that would declare the vacancy of the former mayor of Lima“.
Jorge Muñoz announces actions to reverse his vacancy
The former mayor of Lima Jorge Munoz indicated that it will take legal action to annul the resolution of the National Elections Jury (JNE) that declared the vacancy of the position for violating Article 8 of the Municipal Election Law.
“It is something that has occurred without a foundation and without respecting international standards. This is a topic that will be discussed at the time and we will raise it. I am preparing some actions in this sense to reverse what the Jury (National Elections) has done,” said the former mayor.
