Jorge Muñoz left the mayor’s office of Lima. The National Elections Jury (JNE) published the resolution that declares the vacancy against the former mayor of the capital founded, which was adopted last Wednesday, April 27 by unanimous decision of the plenary session of the electoral entity.
According to the provision, Muñoz Wells violated article 8 of the Municipal Elections Law (Law No. 26864) by assuming the position of director of the Lima Drinking Water and Sewerage Service (Sedapal) between March and May 2019 while He served as mayor of Lima.
“The resignation required of those with disabilities to apply (…) refers to high-ranking State officials, who, due to the work they do, cannot exercise, at the same time, the position of mayor, since the latter implies assuming the legal representation of the municipality and to be the highest administrative authority, in addition, to hold the position full time”, alleges the resolution.
