Previously, the economist Montero Cornejo served as Vice Minister of Mines of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, between November 2020 and August 2021.
Now, the new Minister of State will take office after Rómulo Mucho resigned from his position amid controversy.
As recalled, former Minister Mucho came out after having been censured by the Plenary of Congress and in the midst of constant criticism from various political and social sectors, who questioned his policies regarding artisanal and small-scale mining, including the delivery of the ‘Mape Law’.
