The mayor of the CH Municipality of Montevideo, Matilde Antía (National Party), announced that she will leave office these days after taking office after the death of the also nationalist, Andrés Abt on March 12 last year.
“To inform you that these days @LarraJorge assumes as Mayor the municipality is in good hands!” Antía published this Monday morning on his Twitter account.
At just 22 years old, Antía took over the reins of the capital’s municipality. According to his networks, at that time he was a Notary student at the University of the Republic, but almost nothing is known about his political career. She is the niece of the mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía.
For his part, Jorge Larrañaga Vidal, born in 1988, is a lawyer graduated from the University of Montevideo. Since 2017 he has been at the head of the white group Juntos Podemos, within the Alianza Nacional, led by his father, Jorge Larrañaga. Since 2020 he has been in the place of deputy mayor and will now be the head of the CH Municipality.
