Jorge Larrañaga Vidal assumed his bank in the Senate with a message of commitment to public security, remembering his father, former Interior Minister Jorge Larrañaga, and highlighting the importance of defending the security flag. “My father carried out a tireless fight for security and from this place claimed and reaffirmed with a lot of conviction,” he said, sitting on the same chair his father occupied for years.
In his speech, Larrañaga Vidal criticized the defeatist claims about security, stressing that “the power that is not exercised is lost” and that it is essential to support both materially and institutionally to the police. “If we do not support the police, his task is impossible,” he emphasized.
The son of the leader of the National Alliance also recalled his father’s legacy in the fight for security, stating that he will continue to defend those ideals from his new role in the Senate, before focusing on his candidacy for the Intendencia de Paysandú for the May elections, where he will be a candidate for the National Party.
