The Minister of Transport and Communications (MTC), Raúl Pérez Reyesreported that next week you could have a date for the inauguration of the new terminal of the Jorge Chávez International Airport (Aich).
“This Friday (April 25) we should have an integral test of aircraft, luggage, food fuel service. The following week we will do another test. With that second test, and the results we have of it, is that we will be able to be clear if we are already at the time of pointing out an opening date or not,” he added in statements to the press.
In that sense, he indicated that for now they prefer not to give a date to avoid “the speculation of whether we are going to arrive or not.” In that sense, he indicated that they want to give a day of start when they already have the services working.
As recalled, from the beginning it was provided on December 18, 2024 as a deadline to open the doors of the new terminal. Subsequently, this date moved to January 29, 2025 and then to March 30. Today it is not yet known when it will enter operations.
The head of the MTC indicated that since the fortnight of March and what is going on April, safety exercises related to aircraft parking lots have been done, so that they work perfectly.
“When one looks at a ship, not only requires parking or exit, but there are a number of services such as fuel, food and the entry or exit of luggage. All that requires coordination and had problems before,” he said.
He also reported that this week they are conducting tests related to suitcases, because last week of 500 luggage they registered that four did not reach their place of destination.
Raúl Pérez Reyes participated in the implementation of direct transport routes to the airport from various areas of the country. The price for passengers will vary between S/2 and S/5.
