Jorge Carrillo Olea: Mexican high voltage for 2026

Yes

and they conspired global ills and have created a situation that justifies the name of this note: high voltage or high voltage which refers to conductive cables used to transport large amounts of electricity from generating plants to substations, minimizing energy losses and, on the contrary, obtaining positive results.

The opposite is the case of ours, that, trying to produce an effective effect, we move large loads of energy assuming positive results and instead we produce real disasters and in return we reward their cause, or not Admiral Morales Ángeles? See the Interoceanic Train.

But that example is not enough, we are starting this 2026 suffering the effects of an international political crisis, which is the situation of high tension that is manifested today in Trump’s confrontation with the rest of the world, but mainly with Venezuela, to a lesser extent with us and Colombia, leaving Cuba for later, thus putting the stability of the international system at risk.

Trump’s appetite includes Greenland, which creates a state of alarm in NATO member countries such as France and Greenland itself, also producing an alert of other Trump appetites regarding different strategic interests, regional security or geopolitical value. Mexico is carrying out its relationship with Trump with serenity, very correctly. Wait for Trump to stretch the league too far and be absorbed by other concerns such as the eternal Iran, plus Russia and China, which have not yet fully taken out their teeth on Ukraine and Taiwan. Add to that your internal front, which increases in color every day, while your midterm elections draw closer.

On our side, be careful! The country is experiencing an internal conflict that we see growing day by day, apparently heading towards a political situation that would affect its life, putting governability and its future under pressure.

Their demonstrations, for the moment, are only noisy, but ready to mount any social protest of a legitimate nature such as farmers demanding water, transporters demanding security or inflamed students. Until today, such displays have manifested themselves with insignificant disturbances, except for the negative images they project with their excesses; The meadow is dry and the president is warned alone.

Generalized and evident corruption, political scandals and even the inability of the State to guarantee security play a role in the slow erosion of official power.

The government announces important achievements, but the great crime to which they refer hurts the people less than what hurts them in any space: evident impunity, kidnappings, robberies of passers-by, extortion, femicides and sexual abuse.

To appreciate the situation from another perspective, that of the most informed society, we can consider issues that are of concern in other spheres, which, although they may seem odd, deserve reflection:

1. What could be Trump’s possible specific actions, what responses could be given and who is in charge of designing them.

2. In the face of a fulfilled threat from Trump that expresses violence, what would be the contingent defense plans.

3. How far are senators Fernández Noroña and Adán Augusto López going to go; the first exhibiting incredible baseness that, in his responsibility, damages the image of the country and the other, Adán Agusto, constantly demonstrating himself as a clear challenger to the president. If he defines himself that way, let him open his game.

4. At the last minute, Trump says he doesn’t care if he tried or not. You shouldn’t be afraid of him, it’s another of his tricks.

5. What will be the behavior of the opposition parties in the face of the upcoming electoral reform.

6. When will we begin rebuilding our prestige in the international community.

7. How are we going to handle the World Cup in conditions of collective and individual security?

In general terms, we begin 2026 close to a situation that reflects the fragility of our democratic foundations. It is an opportunity to revisit certain ideas and innovate with others related to the responsibility of all Mexicans in the face of a situation or set of situations that invite us to look far and act nearby.
