Van der Sloot, who a week ago publicly apologized to Flores’ family for the first time in 17 years, described his prison routine as centered on exercise, reading and Christian faith, including the Bible. After murdering the young woman in a hotel in Miraflores, he fled to Chile, but was extradited and confessed to the crime.
