Malagón is an economist from the National University of Colombia and served as Minister of Housing during the government of Iván Duque.
“During 1,325 days of exercise, we achieved things that many considered impossible. We managed to consolidate Colombia as the country in the hemisphere where more houses are bought per capita, reaching historical figures in the sector: on average every two and a half minutes a Colombian can fulfill the dream of having their own home“, Malagón assessed his performance in the portfolio, in March 2022, when he resigned.
The new director of Asobancaria comes to occupy the position he left Hernando Jose Gomez in November 2022.

As reported by Asobancaria in November, its board of directors received a complaint for harassment made by an official of the union against Gómez, which was investigated internally.
That inquiry included: “Guarantee the accompaniment and safe space of the official, listen to the parties involved, follow due process and strictly comply with legal regulations and corporate ethical principles contemplated in the Convention of Belem Do Pará, which establishes the postulates to prevent violence against the woman“.

On November 10, an extraordinary meeting was called and it was decided to unanimously accept the resignation presented by Gómez, “with immediate effects and valuing your work in the last two years“.
In addition, Asobancaria said, the situation was brought to the attention of the competent authorities.
