Launched today (7), the integrated action is part of the second edition of the call Operation Guardwhose first edition took place in the first quarter of 2021. The initiative is coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) and has the support of the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights.

“This operation demonstrates the commitment of the federal government, together with state forces, to combat violence against women. It is necessary for society to become aware that this crime is inadmissible, denounce it and help the security forces to prevent and repress new cases of violence”, said the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Anderson Torres, in a statement.

The civil police of the states and the Federal District will act under the coordination of the Secretariat of Integrated Operations (Seopi/MJSP), in the search for suspects of threats, attempts at femicide, bodily harm, non-compliance with protective measures, rape and harassment, among other crimes. .

According to the Ministry of Justice, 51,551 reports of crimes of violence against women were investigated during the first edition of Operação Resguardo. Almost 190,000 victims were treated, 1,431 requests for search warrants were issued and more than 10,000 people were arrested.

In March 2021, when he presented the preliminary data of the first edition of Resguardo, the then national secretary for Integrated Operations, Jeferson Lisboa Gimenes, declared that the federal government’s intention was to make the initiative regular. “We want to transform actions to combat violence against women into routine actions,” said the former secretary, noting that actions like this strengthen joint action between the federal government and the states.

Service

Reports of violence against women can be made anonymously through Dial 180 and several other channels. Anyone can activate the service, which operates daily, 24 hours a day, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The service registers and forwards cases to Organs competent bodies.

In May 2020, the Brazil Agency gathered information about some of the main initiatives that aim to facilitate access to forms of help, ranging from specialized state police stations, which receive complaints in person, to applications such as SOS Womandeveloped for smartphones by the Public Ministry of Amapá and the Municipality of Macapá, and the platform of the same name that the government of São Paulo makes available on the internet, and which has a tool that allows victims of domestic violence to ask the police for help just by pressing a button on their cell phone.
