AREQUIPA, Peru – Culture ministers Alpidio Alonso of Cuba and Olga Liubimova of Russia agreed on joint projects in this sector during a meeting in St. Petersburg.

In this regard, Liubimova announced the holding of a “Week of Russian Cinema in Cuba” from September 19 to 22.
“The cycle of specialized events in Cuba will continue with the Film Week of the Russian film studio Mosfilm. In addition, we are conducting negotiations with the Cuban side on the creation of joint films,” the minister said on her Telegram channel.
Likewise, the Cuban regime and its Eurasian ally They are considering exchange tours with the participation of the National Ballet of Cuba.
Alonso heads the island’s delegation to the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures, which ends this Saturday, and which includes industry executives, such as the president of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), Alexis Triana.

Almost a year ago, in July 2023, Havana also received the training ship Perekopbelonging to the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy, which remained anchored on the island for three days.
Following the announcement of the Perekop trip to Havana, the regime’s Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, said that both Russia and Cuba were faced with “the task of raising trade and economic relations to the level of political relations, which are very strong.”
The Cuban and Russian regimes have intensified their relations in the last five years, with the signing of projects in various areas such as trade, culture, politics and business. Havana, for its part, has unconditionally supported Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
