The famous actor Johnny Depp, known for his role in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, revealed a new art collection that is based on his life and tarot, reported Bang Showbiz.
The series, called ‘Tarot’, explores themes such as parenthood, love, relationships and career. This collection is limited to 195 editions and includes four works: ‘The Lovers’, ‘The Empress’, ‘The Emperor’ and ‘The Force’, according to the specialist media.
‘The Lovers’ is the work that begins “the story” and shows a man holding a rose while protecting his wife from danger. ‘The Emperor’, inspired by a work Depp made during the filming of ‘Jeanne Du Barry’ at Versailles, represents a 17th century French monarch and, according to Depp, “represents a kind of ignorant power.”
‘The Empress’ It is dedicated to Vanessa Paradisthe mother of Depp’s children, and is based on a painting he made that appeared on the cover of the French singer’s album ‘Divinidylle’. Depp commented on the worn crown in ‘The Empress’: “It looks like a crown that has been through storms. It shows courage and a strong commitment… the crown has been through a lot; it still shines.”
The fourth piece, ‘Strength’, is inspired by a painting Depp worked on when Vanessa was pregnant with their daughter Lily-Rose. The piece depicts an elephant and poses the question: “Why would you want to fight something that doesn’t want to fight you?” According to Depp, elephants “don’t live with any kind of threat in their bones and they protect their own until the very end.”
Johnny Depp wants collectors to find their own interpretations in the pieceswhich can be understood separately or as a complete set. “They could represent, in a way, my reading of what I have lived, but also activate all the characters I have played throughout my life,” he added, according to Bang Showbiz.
Johnny Depp’s artwork will be available for sale from this Thursday exclusively at www.castlefineart.com and in its galleries across the UK.
