MIAMI, United States. — The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FDHC) included in its list of repressors the Cuban official Johanna Ruth Tablada de la Torre, deputy director general for the United States of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX).
The organization pointed out that Tablada is a spokesperson for the regime that “dedicates herself to spreading official propaganda misrepresenting the Cuban reality.”
The diplomat —a graduate of the “Raúl Roa García” Higher Institute of International Relations— has become the quintessential face of Castroism to carry out the face-washing of the international community. Along these lines, Tablada, following the official rhetoric to the letter, has on several occasions blamed the United States government for the crisis that the island is experiencing.
“The permanence of extreme coercive measures that affect the socioeconomic conditions of our population. The government of the United States, with its extreme and inhumane siege measures, is responsible for the high migratory flows from Cuba,” the official said last April after the latest round of immigration talks held between officials of both countries.
The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba recalls that “on April 28, 2023, speaking to American visitors, Tablada said that the hotels in Cuba belong to the people and their profits go to public services,” a fact that has been denied in different investigations. promoted by independent media.
In an interview offered to the reporter of CNN Juan Carlos López on July 21, 2021, just 10 days after the anti-government protests of 9/11 and in the midst of a fierce repressive operation, the official denied that journalists were under siege in Cuba or people were tortured and disappeared.
The file prepared by the FDHC details that the director of the Cuban Foreign Ministry could be tried for the crime of defamation under Article 318 of the Penal Code and for persecution for political reasons, which is listed as a crime against humanity.
