Surely they found out that the Mexican government wants to hire 500 Cuban doctors because it argues that there are not enough specialists in the country.
And the fault is… Exactly… Damn neoliberalism. It is an argument that AMLO has already thrown at us since January 21 of last year… In other words, he has been in power for three years, a year has passed since that declaration and… there are still no specialists in hospitals.
Sure. It is the fault of the past. It’s the heat’s fault. It’s the fault of the doctors themselves.
The president said that there are 50 thousand vacancies in the country. The Secretary of Health corrected it the next day, there are 2,678 vacancies, licensed. Mexican doctors have other data.
The morenista officials came out like bots from the comfort of their office in Mexico City.
That they do not want to go to areas without sufficient infrastructure, with low salaries and with a high crime rate? Hellooooooo! Well who wants to go to work like that!
Among the 100,000 disappeared people, the more than 110,000 intentional homicides, the almost 11 daily femicides… and so many other forms of violence, blaming the doctors for not wanting to go to work in those areas is not having a bit.
Surely they have already forgotten the case of Mariana Sánchez. The young 25-year-old doctor, a resident at a Nueva Palestina clinic in Ocosingo, Chiapas. She reported sexual harassment and no one believed her. She was murdered in January 2021 and the investigations were all aimed at verifying that she committed suicide. Mariana’s mother passed away almost a year ago without knowing the truth. Because until today, there are no advances in the investigation.
Mr. President, Mr. Secretary of Health: Doctors want to work. They can’t find seats. And the ones that exist… are sad. Give them well-equipped hospitals. Give them a good salary and benefits. Give them medicine, they don’t have it. And… when something happens to them, don’t prescribe impunity.
