João Azevêdo wins dispute and will be the future governor of Paraíba

With 13.86% of polls counted, Azevêdo leads the government of Paraíba

Candidate João Azevêdo (PSB) won the race for the government of Paraíba, with 52.33% of the valid votes. Pedro Cunha Lima (PSDB) came in second, with 47.67% of valid votes.João Azevêdo wins dispute and will be the future governor of Paraíba

So far, 97.19% of the polls have been counted. White votes add up to 1.95% and null votes, 5.76%. Abstention is at 16.36%.

Joao Azevedo (PSB): 69 years old, is the current governor of Paraíba, is a civil engineer. He had 39.65% of the valid votes in the first round. Born in João Pessoa, he was Planning Secretary of the Bayeux City Hall, Secretary of Infrastructure of João Pessoa and Secretary of Infrastructure, Water Resources, Environment and Science and Technology of Paraíba. The current vice mayor of Campina Grande, Lucas Ribeiro (Progressistas), 33 years old, is the candidate for vice governor.

Pedro Cunha Lima (PSDB): 34 years old, born in Campina Grande, he is a federal deputy, having been elected for the first time in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. He received 23.9% of the valid votes. Lawyer and professor, the candidate comes from a traditional political family in the state. His father is former senator Cássio Cunha Lima and his grandfather is former governor Ronaldo Cunha Lima. Pedro was elected federal deputy for the first time in 2014 and was reelected in 2018. Domiciano Cabral, 67, is the candidate for vice president.
