The National Board of Justice (JNJ) unanimously decided to ratify Cesar San Martin as a judge of the Supreme Court, after a reserved deliberation and vote.
In addition, the same entity decided to ratify as supreme judges the former president of the Judiciary, Víctor Prado Saldarriaga, and Jorge Luis Salas Arenas, head of the National Elections Jury.
This decision was made after on Monday the ad hoc attorney for the Lava Jato Case, Silvana Carrión, asked César San Martín to refrain from analyzing an appeal filed in the Gasoducto Sur Case.
In his request, it is recalled that the Supreme Prosecutor Pablo Sánchez proposed the same measure because his lawyer in a proceeding before the JNJ is also a defender of the Enagás company, investigated for the same case.
It should be noted that Judge San Martín presides over the room that will decide the future of the appeal presented by President Ollanta Humala, who seeks to be exonerated from the alleged crime of “money laundering”. The arguments of this decision may influence other cases such as that of Keiko Fujimori.
