JNJ expresses concern about accusations by the National Prosecutor, Patricia Benavides

After Patricia Benavides said that the investigation against her is an “illegal and arbitrary” act, the JNJ urged the authorities to maintain “a measured, prudent and compatible public action with the investiture they exercise.”

The National Board of Justice ruled after the Nation’s prosecutor, Patricia Benavides, publicly rejected the preliminary investigation against her for the questioned movements that she ordered in the special team Cuellos Blancos.

“The Constitution and its Organic Law recognize the JNJ the power to initiate investigations into the functional conduct of judges, judges and prosecutors of all instances, in the exercise of their judicial and prosecutorial functions. Consequently, the issuance of a resolution opening a preliminary investigation fully responds to its powers and attributions,” they stated.
