JNJ begins preliminary proceedings against Delia Espinoza for alleged improper use of state vehicles

The National Board of Justice (JNJ) decided to initiate a preliminary investigation against the dismissed former National Prosecutor, Delia Espinoza, for alleged irregularities linked to the use of State assets when she was suspended from her duties. The measure seeks to determine whether there was improper use of public resources during that period.

The decision is based on an internal report prepared by one of the members of the organization and originates from a complaint filed by a citizen, who warned about the alleged use of official vehicles of the Public Ministry despite the fact that the magistrate was not in office.

According to reports, the investigation focuses on the use of official vehicles of the Public Ministry, identified with the license plates EGW-711 and EGW-715, during the time when their suspension was in effect. Espinoza was dismissed as supreme prosecutor on January 23.

According to the JNJ, it is necessary to verify whether these facts could constitute an infraction linked to the correct administration of public resources and whether the attributed conduct is compatible with the duties maintained by senior officials of the justice system, even when they face disciplinary measures.

The opening of this investigation occurs in a context in which Espinoza had already faced disciplinary processes and administrative decisions related to his permanence in the Public Ministry, in the midst of institutional disputes and judicial resolutions on his functional situation.

With the beginning of the preliminary investigation, the JNJ seeks to establish responsibilities and determine whether it is appropriate to advance to a formal disciplinary stage, in line with its function of supervising the performance of magistrates and controlling the appropriate use of state assets.
