JNE: 102 international observers will verify regional and municipal elections on October 2

A total of 102 international observers are accredited by the (JNE) to participate in different missions and delegations that will verify the development of the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections process.

Of this figure, 30 correspond to the Organization of American States (OAS), 17 to the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), one to the Association of World Electoral Organizations (A-WEB), 20 to the Ecuadorian Human Rights Committee and Trade Unions (CEDHUS), 15 to the Andean Parliament and 10 to the Global Alliance of Young Politicians (Aglojoven).

Likewise, two observers from the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM), as well as a member of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and six from the US International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) will participate. .

In other words, there are seven international electoral observation missions and delegations and two international cooperation organizations (UNDP and IFES), which will participate in the observation of the elections.

All the international electoral bodies and organizations will allow the national and international community to be accountable for the cleanliness of the elections and the unquestionable nature of their results.

Informative talks

International electoral observers will participate, on Thursday 29 and Friday 30, in informative talks promoted by the JNE, in which they will be provided with information on fundamental issues for their performance, such as the functions performed by the electoral system bodies in the election process. and the current legal framework.

In the case of the JNE, they will be exposed to the jurisdictional, supervisory, registration and educational functions. Likewise, they will be offered information on the work of the Court of Honor of the Electoral Ethics Pact.

Also participating as speakers will be the electoral expert Fernando Tuesta Soldevilla, as well as representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office, Transparency Civil Association and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA).
