The mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Manuel Jimenezclarified that the past administration left a debt of four months with the landfill of Duchess that they have not been able to comply and announced that the municipality will return to pour in the place.
He stated that the past authorities stopped paying for the months of January, February, March and April of 2020 despite the fact that the Government deposited the April budget of that year on April 17 and its management began on the 24th.
“When we entered, the first budget we received was in May, because the April 20 budget had been exhausted on the 17th of that month and we entered on the 24th… when we arrived on the 24th, the accounts were at minus five million, there were checks made for five million that were not in the accounts, they left everything clean, that is something incredible, not even the phones paid,” the mayor complained.
“So we have always been to reconcile with Duchess That previous debt that they left and we have difficulty in our management to solve all the bad things that they left behind, imagine that they also stopped paying, you don’t know why, you don’t know with what criteria they did that during those four months they did not make a single payment ”, Jimenez said.
He recognized that it is an outstanding debt, but that they are paying the monthly installments after they poured back into Duchess. He said that when they are told they have to pay the old debt, they can’t because they don’t have the resources to do so.
The Municipalities of Santo Domingo Este and Norte are the only ones that do not pay the landfill of Duchess for the dumping of waste. In the case of Santo Domingo Norte, it has never done so because the dump is in its territory and it is part of the administration of the dump.
