Jill Biden begins tour in Panama and meetings with First Lady Yazmín Cortizo

At noon this Friday, May 20, the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, arrived on Panamanian soil as part of her tour of Latin America.

Biden traveled from Ecuador and was received at the Panama Pacific International Airport by personnel from the Foreign Ministry and the charge d’affaires of the US Embassy in Panama, Stewart Tuttle.

In the presidency of the Republic, she was received by the first lady Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, her daughter, Carolina Cortizo and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Ericka Mouynes.

As a first rapprochement with the Panamanian government, Biden held a meeting with Colón de Cortizo, at the Palacio de Las Garzas, where they spoke about the social and educational programs that both countries carry out together.

They visited a school, where the “See and Hear to Learn” program is established, through which they offer vision and hearing exams to students in addition to equipment, such as glasses, for those who require it.

During his visit to Panama, Biden is scheduled to meet with personnel from the United States Embassy in Panama.

On Saturday he will visit the El Buen Samaritano home where there are programs financed by the United States administration for the benefit of people with HIV/AIDS.
