In the final stretch of his management, Mayor Jhonny Fernández makes changes in his team of collaborators to accelerate projects and show greater execution of his electoral promises. However, opponents believe that a long time was lost and now the deadline is not enough to address the problems of the city.
The spokesman of the municipal government, Bernardo Montenegro, made known that the burgomaster requested that all the secretaries, directors and subordinates make their positions available to make an evaluation of the performance, but “above all to reunite the remainder of the management”, because they want to “give it a final impulse.”
The measure occurs six months after the subnational elections and eight to assume the new authorities.
Little by little, changes in the cabinet are being known. Sergio Luna returned to the position of Secretary of Public Works after nine months replacing Erwin Antúnez, while Isabel Fernández was ratified as Secretary of Human Development.
Luna, who accompanied the mayor from 2021 to October last year, confirmed his return to the Secretariat that is responsible for infrastructure works. As soon as he assumed functions, he launched a bump plan with cold asphalt and tiles, in addition to facing the repair of the sinking on the three -steps to the front avenue.
Currently, it works with eight crews in different parts of the city. The interventions have already reached the streets of the Equiperrol neighborhood, Melchor Pinto Avenue and other points, and will continue in sections of Christ Redeemer, Piraí and the Cruceño center. In the industrial park, the works are carried out with articulated pavement.
Luna also informed that everything is ready to continue the construction of the viaduct in Plan Tres thousand, whose works will begin next week. In addition, the construction of the fourth ring viaduct and double the guard.
“We have a commitment to the mayor and Santa Cruz, we want to continue the works, we are wanting to reach 100% of the mayor’s electoral promises, which are held in five fundamental pillars,” Luna said when referring to this new challenge.
Among the priorities, he explained that is the beautification and improvement of the city, with cleaning of channels and the pothole; The conclusion of the Viaduct of Plan Tres thousand, projected by March 2026; the beginning of the construction of the viaduct in the double route to the guard; the revitalization of the historic center and the reduction of roundabouts.
On the roundabouts, he explained that it is planned to initiate with the intervention in radials 25 and 26 of the fourth ring, where bottles are generated. Luna said that the resources and the period of eight months until the end of the management, are enough to face these works.
On the other hand, Secretary Fernández confirmed that she was ratified in the position, after the request made by the mayor to all her collaborators to make their positions available.
In this regard, the opposition councilor, Lola Terrazas, indicated that, with the changes in her cabinet, the mayor seeks to generate a “smoke curtain to try to justify the inefficiency in the administration of the city.”
“There is no hope that management can improve, because the months that remain will not be achieved in time or capacity,” he said.
“They have had more than four and a half years, and have not demonstrated capacity or commitment, so in these months the mayor may only return political favors,” he complemented.
In the council
For his part, Councilor José Alberti, in his capacity as president in exercise, confirmed that on Wednesday the municipal council will meet to choose the directive, because justice granted the first majority to CA and now corresponds to the presidency, according to the internal regulations.
He recalled that an agreement was signed with UCS in the Pro Santa Cruz committee to viability to the Council. “If they don’t abide by that failure, they can go imprisoned,” he warned.
