With the drop in temperatures, The Santa Cruz City Hall enabled the facilities of the bus station to function as a transitory shelter municipal for people living on the streets, like every year.
Mayor Jhonny Fernández inspected it, while the municipal gendarmes denounced the use of their rooms for the shelter.

On the other hand, representatives of the municipal guard had a word exchange with the municipal authority, pointing out that the spaces that were adapted for the municipal shelter are in their rooms and they will also use their bathrooms.
“They are putting the health of workers at risk, because Many of the people living on the streets have all kinds of diseases, such as tuberculosis. Another example, last year a woman with HIV-AIDS and tuberculosis died in one of the workers’ dormitories,” said Estefanía Calle, one of the representatives of the gendarmes.
