The stylist sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder of his brother Mauricio Leal and his mother, Marleny Hernández, made a call to the Attorney General’s Office.
News Colombia.
John Leal He is currently being held in La Picota prison in Bogotá after a judge found him guilty of the double homicide of Mauricio Leal and Marleny Hernández.
From his cell, the Valle del Cauca stylist wrote a letter to make serious accusations against the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec), ranging from persecution, coercion and even torture.
According to Jhonier Leal, in August he was visited by Inpec guards at night (8:15 pm) to conduct a search inside his cell by order of the Prosecutor’s Office, a procedure that for the detainee was done in a “improper manner” due to the time at which it was carried out.
“They searched my cell without me being able to observe what they were doing and this violates my right not to be disturbed after 8pm and that I should observe the search.”wrote Jhonier Leal in the letter dated September 9, 2024.
“Being detained and imprisoned is not a reason for methods of psychological torture, persecution or coercion to be used against me, since these actions degrade me even further.”the 51-year-old stylist wrote in his writing.
Leal cited articles of the Colombian Constitution to support his complaint. He also sent a message to the Attorney General’s Office to request that his rights as a person deprived of liberty be respected: “Give me protection.”
