Jewish Community in Panama celebrates the New Year 5783

A delegation from the Jewish Community of Panama was received at the Palacio de Las Garzas, by the President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo Cohen and Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo, on the occasion of the commemoration of the Jewish New Year 5783.
The Jewish Community delegation was made up of: Mr. Alan Perelis, President of the Panamanian Jewish Congress,
Mr. Alberto Levy, on behalf of the Hebrew Community Central Council of
Panama, Mr. Isaac Basher, President of the Shevet Israeli Charitable Society
Ahim, Mr. Dovi Eisenman, President of Beth Israeli Charity. Mr. Joshua Henriquez, President of the Kol Shearith Israel Congregation, Rabbi David Perets, Rabbi of the Shevet Ahim Israeli Charitable Society.

The visit of the Jewish Community of Panama to the highest national authorities
on the occasion of the festivities of the month of Tishrei is a tradition that year after year has
place. Within the framework of the same, a pleasant and sincere conversation was developed
where issues of the national agenda and inherent to community life were discussed
In Panama.
The visitors delivered to the highest national authorities a
Menora, in Spanish candelabrum, symbol of the Jewish people, as well as food
New Year’s treats such as a cake and a bottle of honey next to a tray
of sweets typical of the party being commemorated. In turn, the visitors were
gifted with Geisha-type coffee, a product of the highlands of Panama
repeatedly cataloged as the best quality worldwide.
