MADRID, Spain.- The airline JetBlue recently made a major change to its baggage policy, which benefits all passengers regardless of the fare selected. Starting September 6, all travelers can bring a carry-on bag at no additional cost. This measure seeks to improve the customer flight experience and position the company as a more competitive option in the market.

Previously, only customers who purchased higher fares or “Even More Space” seats were allowed to bring carry-on bags for free. However, with the new policy, JetBlue ranks among the airlines with the best basic economy options for travelers looking to save without compromising on service quality.

JetBlue President Marty St. George cited by several mediasaid of the change: “Carry-on bags are an important part of the journey for customers, and when they are presented with a choice between JetBlue’s award-winning service and another airline’s basic offering, we want JetBlue to be the easy choice.” He also noted that this initiative responds to consumer preferences and strengthens the airline’s competitiveness in the sector.

In addition to the free carry-on bag, all JetBlue fares, including the Blue Basic fare, offer a host of additional benefits, such as increased legroom in coach, seatback entertainment and free, unlimited access to Fly-Fi2 internet service on all flights.

The airline clarified that, although most of its planes have large overhead bins, in cases of high demand or very full flights, passengers may be required to check their carry-on bags at no additional cost if the available space is insufficient.

As usual, luggage will be subject to size and weight restrictions. Carry-on luggage must not exceed the dimensions of 22 inches long (55.88 cm) x 14 inches wide (35.56 cm) x 9 inches high (22.86 cm), including wheels and handles. As for personal items, they must not exceed 17 inches long (43.2 cm) x 13 inches wide (33 cm) x 8 inches high (20.32 cm).

According to the airline, the new baggage policy is part of a broader effort by JetBlue to offer flexible options for its customers, allowing each passenger to choose the fare that best suits their needs. The rates Lower fares like Blue Basic continue to offer competitive pricing, although passengers on this fare will still be among the last to board. For those who want more perks, such as advance seat selection or priority boarding, JetBlue offers more flexible fares, such as Blue, that include these additional services at no extra cost.
