The president of the CP, Jesús María Casal, assured that regardless of whether the dialogue is resumed or not, the primaries go on the scheduled date. He said that they await a definitive response from the CNE regarding its technical support in order to publish the corresponding regulations.
The president of the National Primary Commission (CP), Jesús María Casal, considers that if it is possible to resume the path of dialogue between the opposition and the administration of Nicolás Maduro in Mexico, it can bring a “more favorable” climate for the realization of the primaries.
This was stated by Casal in an interview with the wave circuit on the morning of this Tuesday, April 25, where he explained that, although the international conference on Venezuela and the dialogue are indirectly connected, the primaries will take place at the scheduled time regardless of the negotiation times.
“The primary is going ahead, they are being organized and the application deadlines will come and there the candidates will be able to participate in the primary process,” he added.

When delving into the subject of the primaries and the conditioning of the CNE to lend its support to the process, the also professor of Law indicated that they still have two weeks to wait for the definitive response from the Electoral Power on their technical assistance before publishing the regulations that will regulate that election on October 22.
He did say that the CNE report has suggestions and recommendations that do not correspond to the requests that were made at the beginning and detailed that two scenarios were presented to be carried out in the primaries where in one, manual voting in voting centers was allowed. voting and the other, with a “combined system”.

Jesús María Casal criticized the response of the electoral body on the subject of the Electoral Registry, since he explained that when it was requested to update it, it was not for a single sector but for the whole world.
He assured that if it is concluded that an agreement cannot be reached with the CNE for the organization of the primary, the Commission should think together with the organizations that support it in a self-managed primary.
He indicated that they have the ability to carry out and self-manage the primaries, but they must wait for the electoral body to decide whether or not to support the process for them to manage and prepare other logistical scenarios.
