Jesús María Casal, president of the National Commission, indicated that he hopes that the candidates for the primaries sign an agreement that includes a government plan for the winner, based on respect for the rule of law, democratization, recovery of the economy and others
The president of the National Commission, Jesus Maria Casal, indicated that everything has progressed according to the estimates of the Unitary Platform and that the process will be carried out, even though there is still a phase to create incentives for the population to attend to vote for the candidate who will be the rival of Nicolás Maduro in the presidential elections of 2024.
«I believe that the level of participation in the primary will depend a lot on the message of the political leadership. The call to participate and trust in the institutions is important,” he told firewood effect.
He indicated that the Commission has advanced in accordance with the provisions of the electoral schedule published in February 2023 and that they are awaiting the nominations of the candidates, taking into account that the first name came out this June 13: Roberto Enriquez.
Casal assured that most of the pre-candidates who have indicated their intentions to participate in the primary already have a date for their application and that the Commission only awaits the completion of these acts.
«There are 13 candidates so far who are in the preliminary registration. We held conferences and information sessions with all the pre-candidates. One of the great topics of debate is the protection of voters with the fingerprint scanner machinery, “he added this Tuesday, June 13.
He also argued that much more work needs to be done to provide information on the primary. «There are communication elements that must be reinforced. The work of the regional boards has helped us a lot.”

Casal indicated that he expects the candidates to sign an agreement, which includes a government plan for the winner, based on respect for the rule of law, democratization, recovery of the economy and others.
“We hope to hold an act in which all the candidates sign the agreement. That it be done in a public act that gives a sign of integration. Let the primary go ahead if there is a sum of the parts, “he said.
Casal stated that the pre-candidates who expressed their intention to participate in the process are willing to respect the results and support whoever wins. In this sense, he stressed that achieving respect among the applicants “was another great consensus.”
He ratified that the vote of Venezuelans living outside the country is guaranteed, but that they must remember that the registration process that was recently started is only for this process and not valid to vote in the presidential elections.
“We are going to convene the different representatives of candidates and pre-candidates to clarify any doubts that may exist about the characteristics of the process,” he also said.
